Welcome to the home of Blu Simon
Good music has a way of getting to you. It grabs you hard by the shoulders and shakes you until you know you are alive. What makes it good is not how simple or complex it is, but that in some way it captures the human experience. Through the music, like all good art, we share the joys, pains, desires and conflicts of life. Beyond money, beyond power, beyond circumstance, it is the human experience that unites us all. This is what we sing. This is what we write. We are Blu Simon. We are the New Rock and Roll.
This is the story of three young men in search of Rock and Roll. Unsatisfied with music as it stands today; they journeyed back to the Rock and Roll of old. Lighting their way were bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. Through them they learned about the diversity and imagination of this great style.
They continued on through the Rock and Roll greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who and The Doors. With each influence, they learned more, such as the organic sound of Jimi Hendrix and the powerful performance of The Who. After a while their journey led them to the foundation of Rock and Roll, the Blues.
Chuck Berry, Howlin Wolf, and John Lee Hooker were there to welcome them to the place where this great music is born. Through them and others fathers of Rock and Roll they came to know the soul and drive of the music.
Their journey continued on, until finally they arrived at the founder of Rock and Roll, Robert Johnson. He stood by a large oak door with a brass handle. The three approached the great Rock and Roller and asked him what they had left to learn. He simply smiled, and opened up the door.
From out of it poured music from every place, every time, and every people. As they looked through the doorway they saw no roads, only a vast open field of possibility. The three of them stepped slowly through the door, picked up their instruments, and begin to play. And what they played sounded strange and new. As if it had passed through the rock and roll of old and come out as something different, something fantastic. But the story does not end there. The three still journey on, learning and playing.
